Trust
February 10, 2025
This week we want to talk about Trust. Trust is defined as a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. There is a saying that goes "Time is not money, Trust is money." On teams, trust is everything. Without it you have nothing. With it, you're well on your way to accomplishing the collective mission. In your leadership, if you're not building trust with those you lead, you're already losing them. Let's talk about what it looks like to live out Trust:
The Corner
Trust takes vulnerability- "Uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure. It's that unstable feeling we get when we step out of our comfort zone or do something that forces us to loosen control." When was the last time you loosened control? Who or what were you placing your trust in at that moment? How did it feel? When we consider trust we have to understand that sometimes placing our trust in something or someone requires some vulnerability. It requires that we hold loosely to the desired outcome and believe in the preparation we've put in. Our challenge to you is don't fear this vulnerability. Lean into it. Lean into the uncertainty and emotional exposure. Lean into what feels risky and trust that it is in that place where growth occurs. So get vulnerable. Seek it out. Trust in the process to reach the goal. Loosen control of the outcome and trust that you're on the right track.
The Vine
Jeremiah 17:7-8
"'But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.'"
Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. This truth spoken by Jeremiah gives us a firm foundation to stand on when we trust in God. Jeremiah says that the one whose trust is in the Lord is like a tree planted by water. When the heat comes, the tree does not worry because its roots run deeply connected to its source, the stream. Even in drought, its leaves remain green and it continues to produce fruit. A person who trusts in the Lord has roots that run deep. No matter what life looks like, if we faithfully trust in the Lord we do not have to worry. He is the source. He is the water that never runs dry. He is the one who gives life to the tree. All we have to do is trust - have a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, and strength of our God.
The Work
In an exercise of trust, our work this week is vague. We have 7 days from February 10 to February 16. That's 7 days to get better. 7 opportunities to improve. We encourage you this week to take all 7. Complete some form of exercise for at least 15 min each day. Trust that building habits of consistency will lead to progress. Let us know if you need some workout ideas! And remember...keep working!
We love you and are here for you always!
All our love,
Nick and Madison
